Gicopa candies are carefully made by a small team of skilled confectioners. Respecting our traditional recipes handed over for generations, we only use natural colouring and the most qualitative locally sourced ingredients, such as the finest Belgian beet sugar available. We do not use gelatine and do not harm any animals : all Gicopa products are vegan and allergen free. You can enjoy them with a peaceful mind!

1895

The story of Gicopa

(GIllard COnfiserie & PAin d’épices) starts in 1895 in central Liège, south-east Belgium. On a daily basis Mr Gillard produces in his workshop sugar based candies, biscuits such as marzipan, macaroons, gingerbread as well as chocolats.

1920

Having travelled to the US

mr Gillard has a keen eye for branding and marketing. His client focused approach paves the way for the future.

1980

The Lemaire family takes over the business

and moves the factory in 2003 from central Liège to the current address in the outskirts of Liège, Sprimont. Over the years confectionery becomes the core business, with Gicopa candies sold nation-wide.

2015

A new owner,

Dries De Muynck, arrives with the ambition to expand branded sales not only in Belgium but abroad as well. In 2017 Gicopa is quality certified FSSC22000, in 2019 the biscuit production is dropped in order to focus exlusively on candies. Gicopa now counts 8 workers and Gicopa candies are sold in more than 10 countries.
